Six Bridges
Some Reminders...
If you’ll be in the Little Rock area this Saturday (October 4th, 2025), I hope you’ll come see me at the Six Bridges Book Festival. I’m scheduled to be on a panel with Neena Viel (Listen to Your Sister) at 4:00 that afternoon, and then we’ll both be signing books. I was privileged to be on a Panel with Neena at the Columbus Book Festival, and she’s completely delightful. I’m looking forward to seeing her again, and as always I’m excited to see you!
This past weekend I was inducted into my high school’s hall of fame. I was a terrible student (I’m not just saying that), but as I mentioned in my speech, I took a writing workshop in my senior year that turned out to be the only writing instruction I’ve ever received. I had always wanted to be a writer, but that workshop helped me see how it could happen for me, and I’ve gone back to that school twice now to teach the same workshop to new students. It was an honor to be recognized, and it’s strange to think there’s a picture of me hanging in the school now. I never would have dreamed of such a thing when I walked those halls so many years ago. (I’d prefer not to think about how many years it’s been!)
I wanted to remind you that my next book, The Boatman, will be coming out in early April of 2026. It’s currently available for preorder wherever you get books. I’m sure you know how important preorders are for authors and publishers. Please consider ordering it and/or asking your local library to order it. This is my second novella, but it took me far longer to write than anything I’ve ever worked on. I spent years putting it away and coming back to it, reworking it a million different ways until I hit on an approach I liked. I’m awfully proud of it, and I can’t wait to see what you think.
Finally, I wanted to let you know that the upcoming anthology Of Dread, Decay, and Doom is currently being crowdfunded. If you’re a fan of horror stories, please consider supporting it. I have a story in the anthology, along with authors Jonathan Maberry, Eric Shanower, P.A. Cornell, and many others. My story, “Hello Killer,” was incredibly fun to write, and I really think you’ll like it.
I’ve been writing a lot of short stories lately, and I’ll be sure to let you know when and where you can read them as they come out.
That’s it for now. Take care of yourselves and each other. We’ll talk soon.
Your friend,
Alex

Congrats on the induction!
